Copilot Field Engineer

Overview

Compellent Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise-class network storage solutions, is seeking a Copilot Field Engineer as part of the Technical Solutions team. This position is responsible for the installation of the Compellent SAN at end user locations. The Installation Engineer works independently and makes decisions regarding the SAN installation and is able to handle unexpected technical challenges while maintaining an awareness of customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Onsite installation of Storage Center SAN
• Racking of equipment
• Cabling of equipment per specifications and design
• Verification of operation per specifications and design
• Installation/zoning of FC and Ethernet switches as needed
• Deliver knowledge transfer of the Storage Center functions
• Deliver overview of Compellent support
• Level one phone support for Compellent clients will be required while in office and not scheduled for travel
• This position will interact with both technical and non-technical personnel and must be able to communicate effectively in person, via telephone, and email.
• Must be able to learn independently

Qualifications

• 4+ years technical related experience is required
• Ideal candidates will possess in-depth knowledge with SAN technology and Open Systems technology
• 2+ years experience with switch fabric configuration, monitoring and support is desirable
• Network operating system certifications with Novell, Microsoft, Linux and Sun are preferred
• A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a Two year technical degree, or equivalent working experience is required
• Must be able to travel on short notice
• Overall travel expectation is 90% of the time or greater
