Senior Software Engineer Java

Overview

Compellent is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with experience managing projects, functioning as a team lead, and providing architectural guidance. The engineer’s responsibilities include architecting and leading the development of large scale Java management software application within a growing Engineering Department. Candidate will be part of a team focusing on design and implementation of new and existing products to manage Compellent’s Storage Area Network (Storage Center). Responsibilities

• Coordinate features with multiple engineering departments
• Design and implementation of new features and applications for enterprise-level customer environments
• Troubleshoot and maintain existing product features and applications
• Execute given assignments in a self-directed manner, anticipate issues, and modify procedures as necessary
• Mentor and coach other members of the software development staff
• Follow standard engineering practices under the direction of others
• Demonstrate self-initiative and seeks assistance when required

Qualifications

• Experience with C#, C++, Perl, or python a significant plus
• Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL database development a significant plus
• General understanding of Java tools such as Eclipse a plus
• Understanding of S/W development life cycle and processes
• Experience with multiple common computer platforms (Windows, Linux, Unix , VMWare) a plus
• Good problem-solving analytical skills required
• Ability to effectively work with peers throughout the organization
• Self-motivated, adaptable and able to work independently in an extremely fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• General understanding of the storage and backup business environments a plus

Education / Experience

• Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline is required
• 5+ years Java development experience required
