Storage Architect

Overview


The Storage Architect (SA) will provide Compellent’s Business Partners and Customers with technical advice regarding Storage Area Network (SAN) and systems architecture. The SA will have the ability to lead architectural efforts for any customer, regardless of size and scope. As part of an enterprise planning team, the SA must have a thorough knowledge of business requirements as well as an understanding of the many disciplines that make up modern datacenters. The SA will be part of the pre-sales team and will partner with the Business Development Manager to ensure success within their territory and region.

In addition, the SA will be a corporate-wide resource, speaking at and participating in highly visible user events, industry conferences and seminars, and technical groups. As a SAN expert, the SA will be a liaison for field systems engineering, corporate systems engineering, product marketing, competitive analysis, and other relevant technical subject areas.

Location: Orange County, CA, New York, NY and Philadelphia, PA.

Responsibilities


  • Regional technical resource teamed with one or more business development team members to advance the Storage Center presence in the respective region.
  • Conduct and/or participate in presale product presentations, demos, customer evaluations and ROI analyses. Deliver technical presentations and respond to technical questions during sales calls. Provide technical content for bids and sales proposals.
  • Develop and recommend Storage Area Network configurations, including fibre channel, iSCSI, switches, tape storage and Compellent hardware and software products.
  • Train customers and Business Partners on the use of Compellent hardware and application software.
  • Establish and cultivate ongoing business relationships with customers and Business Partners to facilitate additional business.
  • Document prospect & customer contact activity and customer configuration information in CRM. Document personal activity with status and time reporting.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the partner’s competitive market. Effectively translate Compellent product features and functions into methods for the channel partner to maintain or increase revenue and margin.
  • Conduct and/or participate in product presentations, demos, evaluations and ROI analyses directed to current or prospective channel partners. Deliver technical presentations and respond to technical questions. Provide technical content for bids and sales proposals.
  • Develop, guide and train channel partners on Storage Area Network technology and the use of Compellent Channel program tools.
  • Engage with local Compellent sales teams to facilitate partner activities.
  • Act as technical liaison between partner and Compellent on presales situations, product requirements and future product direction for the partner’s market.
  • Establish and cultivate ongoing business relationships with channel partners to facilitate additional business.

Qualifications


  • Four-year degree in a related technical field, ideally Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • Minimum of seven years of relevant experience in systems engineering, systems architecture, pre-sales technical marketing, pre-sales technical sales, or other customer-centric system’s level experience.
  • Excellent oral presentation skills with proven presentation and systems design software, excellent writing skills, public relations skills, and base technical skills.
  • Technical skills must be in the areas of SAN, Fibre Channel, IP networking, and Operating Systems design and computer systems architecture.
  • Requires a minimum of 50% travel and a functional home-based office.
