Compellent customer gm2 Logistics, a warehousing and logistics company located near London, has won the "Green Organisation of the Year" award from the British Computer Society. gm2 Logistics reduced its data centre footprint and associated energy consumption by more than 30 per cent following the deployment of an energy-efficient storage area network (SAN) from Compellent and server virtualisation technology from VMware.

Best Practices in Infrastructure Management

Compellent customer, Munder Capital Management won IDG’s Computerworld “Best Practices in Infrastructure Management” Award in the Data Center Management, IT Operations and Business Continuity category. Munder Capital Management, a financial investment firm with $29.6 billion in managed assets, was honored for its implementation of Compellent’s storage area network (SAN) as the foundation for its business continuity strategy.
Diogenes Labs-Storage Magazine Quality Awards for Midrange Arrays

The Diogenes Labs-Storage Magazine Quality Awards recognize products that have proven their quality and reliability based on a survey of Storage magazine readers conducted by Diogenes Labs. The Compellent SAN was ranked no. 1 in product features, technical support and sales-force competence. According to the survey, 100 percent of Compellent customers would purchase their systems again. Commenting on Compellent’s Copilot support services, Community Health Plan IT Operations Manager Cary Dahl said, “Whether you call at 2 a.m. or 2 p.m., they’ve been very responsive.” Compellent beat out midrange storage systems from 14 other vendors including Dell/EqualLogic, Dell/EMC, EMC, HP, Hitachi, IBM, NetApp, and Sun. 


InfoWorld Green15 Award
April 2008

InfoWorld's Green 15 honors the top 15 green technology initiatives undertaken by organizations in the past year. Compellent customer, gm2 Logistics, a warehousing and logistics company located near London, replaced its inefficient legacy storage system with two Compellent storage area networks (SANs) to create an IT infrastructure with high uptime and ensure business continuity. Compellent’s management of data inside the volume resulted in fewer storage drives required and helped the company shrink the data center footprint and consume less power. By pairing the Compellent SANs with VMware-based virtual servers, the company reduced its data center footprint by one-third and consolidated its 36 servers into six blade servers.

Storage Networking World Best Practices in Storage

Two Compellent customers, the University of North Texas (UNT) and Gaston County, North Carolina, were chosen as finalists for the "Best Practices in Storage" awards, sponsored by Storage Networking World (SNW) in conjunction with Computerworld and the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA).

UNT was selected as a finalist for the "Innovation and Promise" category, which recognizes successful "pioneering" of leading storage networking technology. Gaston County was chosen as a finalist for the "Storage Reliability and Data Recovery" category for implementation strategies and programs that ensure highly available information and data access.

The first pan-European awards to recognize the crucial role that ISVs and solution providers play in the delivery of real world solutions attracted entries from more than 30 countries. Compellent UK channel partners Fordway Solutions and Jcom took the top two honors in the ‘Data and Information Management’ category. Fordway won for its deployment of a virtualized disaster recovery solution using two Compellent SANs and VMware for gm2 Logistics, a warehousing and logistics company near London. Jcom took second place for a Compellent multi-site DR solution for Barhale Construction.
