Compellent Signs New Channel Partner Transtec UK
Amersham, UK – July 21, 2009 – Compellent Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: CML) today announced that it has appointed virtualisation specialist Transtec Computers Ltd to resell its award-winning network storage solution, Compellent Storage Center. Oxfordshire-based Transtec Computers Ltd is a subsidiary of Transtec AG, headquartered in Tübingen, Germany.
Matthew Prew, managing director of Transtec Computers Ltd, said that the Compellent storage area network (SAN) solution would complement the firm’s extensive storage and networking solutions portfolio. He said: “We were particularly impressed with Compellent’s block-level virtualisation technology which enables automated tiered storage, thin provisioning, simplified data replication and advanced virtualisation technologies. Together, these features make it much simpler and less expensive to address the needs of clients looking to increase the efficiency of their virtualised environments, recovery and business continuity infrastructure.”
Transtec will benefit from Compellent’s unique all-channel “assisted sales” model, which gives a major advantage over the competition when it comes to selling to, and servicing, its clients. Unlike other storage vendors, who use resellers for distribution but ultimately compete with them via direct sales, Compellent has no direct sales force and focuses all of its resources on helping partners sell and close deals. Transtec’s sales force will also gain access to Compellent’s secure online partner portal, which features fast lead registration, rapid quote generation and a host of other online resources.
