Dublin, Ireland – March 25, 2010 – Compellent today announced that Origina, one of its key Irish channel partners, has won the ‘SMB Service Provider’ award at the European IT Excellence Awards 2010 for its work with Lakeland Dairies.

Origina won the award for assisting in the deployment of a virtualised IT infrastructure solution at one of Ireland's largest dairy processing co-operatives, Lakeland Dairies. By combining Microsoft’s Hyper- V platform with Compellent’s award winning Storage Area Network (SAN) Origina helped deliver a virtualised environment that is saving its customer 70 percent on power and cooling costs alone. 

By providing the storage foundation for server virtualisation, Compellent’s Fluid Data architecture lets customers automate the movement and management of data at a granular level, ultimately reducing power and cooling costs. By further integrating technologies such as automated tiered storage, thin provisioning and space-efficient snapshots to reduce reliance on high-energy storage, Compellent customers gain the means to deploy a feature-rich, greener data centre.
