I’ve got some sad news to report. Yesterday, the graphic design community lost a great talent and Compellent lost a member of our extended team, Lisa Wood, who passed away unexpectedly of natural causes. We’re very shocked and saddened by it, and our marketing communications team is pretty shaken up as you can imagine.
Though Lisa was a freelancer, she’s very much an everyday member of our team, and she contributed about half of the art and layout you see on our website, marketing collateral and presentations. When I was at Tech Field Day last Friday in Seattle, one of the bloggers actually requested some graphics that were designed by Lisa.
Lisa lived near Bountiful, Utah, and though I never met her I always heard tales about her globetrotting travels from my friend and colleague, Thea Hayden, director of marcomm. You see, Lisa, who is survived by a wonderful family, was close to Thea’s brother and he introduced her to Thea, so Lisa was part of the Compellent family in more ways than one. Our hearts go out to all of them especially her three kids and husband, Preston. May they find some comfort knowing that by every meaningful measure she led a bountiful life.
I wanted to take a moment to recognize this very talented woman, who held the respect of everyone who worked with her. One way to do that was to show you some of our favorites from the huge body of work she did in the too-short time she was with us. Here’s the best of Lisa:
