When the IT staff decided to boost the response time of its recently upgraded EMR system, TouchWorks® from Allscripts, MIT Medical implemented Compellent’s enterprise storage solution that resulted in immediate performance and cost benefits.

Storage Center’s block-level virtualization easily handles the large numbers of concurrent sessions common to enterprise environments by managing all disks as a single pool of storage and allowing any volume to utilize all of the disk drives to access data simultaneously. This accelerates access by spreading the read/write operations across all of the disk drives in a SAN rather than limiting availability to a single drive or group of drives dedicated to a volume.
Storage Center’s virtualization also enables Forristall to easily respond to rapid, unanticipated medical records growth by simply expanding volumes on-demand, dynamically provisioning more capacity from this single shared pool.
