Compellent to Give First Public UK Demo of Automated Tiered Storage at Storage Expo UK1st October, 2007
LONDON, UK, 1st October, 2007 — Compellent will be giving the first public UK demonstration of its storage area network (SAN) with Data Progression software, the only product on the market today that delivers fully automated tiered storage at the block-level at Storage Expo UK, Olympia, London (Booth 555, October 17-18).
According to a recent analyst report by Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG), Compellent’s Data Progression software has the unique ability to identify inactive data at the block level and move it to a lower cost tier.
Tony Asaro, senior analyst at ESG said: "Data Progression is the most granular level of data movement that we are aware of. It is transparent to users and applications and ensures that only your most active data is being stored on Tier One (your most expensive) storage. This type of intelligent tiering lowers capital costs and makes your storage system far more efficient."
