Without impacting datacenter uptime and leveraging your existing hardware, Storage Center 6.0 increases the value of Dell’s Fluid Data technology by delivering several key capabilities for your datacenter that augment the compelling benefits of Storage Center 5.4:

• Storage Center 6.0 extends Compellent’s Data Progression capability to deliver up to 80 percent reduction in storage TCO.
• For enterprises that require greater than 75TB in total capacity, Storage Center 6.0 can deliver up to 13% additional storage TCO savings.¹

With advanced tiering, thin provisioning and replication features, the modular design of the Dell Compellent SAN enables existing Compellent data centers to realize immediate improvements by upgrading to the new firmware without a rip-and-replace process. SC 6.0 extends Compellent’s promise to put data in the right place, at the right time, for the right cost.

Storage Center 6.0 also expands on Dell and VMware’s long-standing integration and engineering collaboration. As customers accelerate their move to dynamic data centers and cloud computing environments, New VMware specific enhancements for Storage Center 6.0 include:

• Dell Compellent VMware vSphere™ Storage APIs for Array Integration offer full copy offload and hardware-assisted locking features that complement Compellent’s existing VAAI integration capabilities.
• Dell Compellent Storage Replication Adapter (SRA) for Site Recovery Manager 5 is available and supports  new SRM 5 features such as automated failback from a disaster and new work flows for planned migration and downtime.
• Dell Compellent vSphere 5 Client Plug-In and Enterprise Manager vSphere 5 Integration allows VMware administrators to efficiently manage Compellent virtualized pools of storage resources from either the VMware vSphere 5 or Compellent Enterprise Manager console, adding flexibility and greatly reducing administration time.

The currently available Storage Center 5.4 release for the Dell Compellent Series 30 and Series 40 virtualized storage array allows enterprises to rapidly adapt to changing business requirements. Organizations can leverage the latest industry standards, from 10 Gb iSCSI and FCoE frontend connectivity to 2.5" or 3.5" 6 Gb SAS drives and enclosures. Live Volume software delivers high availability and continuous access to data by enabling transparent volume migration between two Dell Compellent arrays.
