    Lawrence E. Aszmann has served as our Chief Technology Officer and Secretary since co-founding Compellent in March 2002. Mr. Aszmann was a member of our board of directors from March 2002 through June 2003. From July 1995 to August 2001, Mr. Aszmann served as Chief Technology Officer of Xiotech, which Mr. Aszmann co-founded in July 1995. Xiotech was acquired by Seagate in January 2000. From July 1988 to August 1995, Mr. Aszmann served as Director of Intelligent Input/Output Subsystems at Tricord Systems. From December 1981 to June 1988, Mr. Aszmann served as Chief Software Architect of Star Technologies, and Mr. Aszmann previously held various storage-related technology positions with Technalysis Corporation, a consulting company, and Control Data Corporation, a mainframe manufacturing company.

    Bob Fine is Director of Product Marketing. In this role, he leads the team responsible for the planning and launch of Compellent’s enterprise network storage products. With more than 16 years experience in the data storage and networking industry, Fine also engages end-users via the company's longstanding customer council, the C3, to incorporate their feedback directly into the development of Compellent products.

    Before joining Compellent in 2003, he was a product manager at network supplier Cisco Systems, where he helped introduce one of the company's first storage networking products. From 1992 to 2000, he held various product marketing and strategic planning positions at Ciprico, a data storage technology company.

    Fine holds an executive master of business administration in medical technology from St. Thomas University in Minneapolis, Minn., and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich.

    Justin Braun has served as a Microsoft product specialist in the Technical Solutions Group at Compellent since 2006. In this role, Justin assists Compellent end-users design and implement best-practices for using Microsoft applications such as SQL Server, Exchange, and clustering. He is also responsible for testing and certifying Compellent's networked storage products for Microsoft environments and plays an active role in the Microsoft Partner Solution Center.


    From 2005 to 2006, he was technical account manager at Microsoft Corp. where he provided technical consulting, support and trouble-shooting and planned service delivery to Microsoft’s enterprise customers. Before that, Justin spent 11 years at Best Buy Co., Inc. where he was responsible for designing, managing and supporting the Microsoft infrastructure including Exchange and file and print operations.

    Stephen Anderson is director of alliances marketing. In this role he is responsible for Compellent's relationships with the leading application, operating system, hypervisor, and hardware platform technology vendors that together help drive the virtual data center. Previously at Compellent he was business development manager for the Northwest United States and Western Canada.

    Before joining Compellent in August, 2005, he served as the director of alliances for Xiotech from 1999 to 2004, where he was responsible for strategic partners, programs and business development. Prior to that, Anderson spent more than 20 years in various sales and marketing management positions in IT software and services for companies such as Lawson and AmeriData.

    Anderson holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyo. and an associate's degree in computer science from the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis, Minn.

    Philip E. Soran has served as our Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer since co-founding Compellent in March 2002. From July 1995 to August 2001, Mr. Soran served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Xiotech Corporation, or Xiotech, a storage area networking company, which Mr. Soran co-founded in July 1995. Xiotech was acquired by Seagate Technology, or Seagate, a disk drive manufacturer, in January 2000. From October 1992 to April 1995, Mr. Soran served as Executive Vice President of Prodea Software Corporation, a data warehousing software company. From 1982 to 1992, Mr. Soran also held a variety of management, sales, marketing and technical positions with IBM. Mr. Soran received a B.A. in Education from the University of Northern Colorado.

    As international managing director, Hardy is responsible for growing Compellent’s network of business partners outside North America, based in Buckinghamshire, England. With more than 25 years global experience in technology, he joined Compellent after 13 years at global investment bank Nomura Group, most recently as a specialist in US-based technology companies. Prior to Nomura Group, Hardy held sales, product marketing and service management positions in Itochu of Japan and Basys (now Avid) in London. He was trained in the Royal Australian Air Force as an electronics engineer.
